Omaha’s Grand Old Parks Master Plan

Omaha, Nebraska

The renowned Landscape Architect, H.W.S. Cleveland master planned Omaha’s park and boulevard system in 1892. His goals were to preserve the natural richness of Omaha’s hill and valley landscape, to make public parks accessible to all city dwellers, and to create a linked urban open space system joined by tree-lined boulevards. The design team prepared a master plan for the restoration of fourteen of Cleveland’s original parks. The plan focuses on the preservation and enhancement of natural and constructed landscapes with an emphasis on sustainability, updated programming, and historic design compatibility.
