Geneva is a small city in southeastern Nebraska. Surrounded by agricultural land, it is the Garfield County seat and the regional hub for business, entertainment, and recreation. Its historic main street, lush county courthouse square, and the surrounding historic district are assets sited when the city joined Heritage Nebraska’s Main Street Program. Chroma Design, teamed with Alley Poyner Macchietto Architects, to conduct public workshops and prepare a downtown redevelopment master plan that recommends a phased approach to physical redevelopment including improvements to public and private properties as well as to the primary transportation corridor gateways and streetscapes. The plan includes detailed cost estimates, recommendations for funding strategies, and suggested policy changes to encourage economic growth.
