Central Park Boulevard Bridge at Stapleton

Denver, Colorado

The Central Park Boulevard Bridge was designed to be part of the Greenway Park that it crosses. Integrating the bridge into the park and surrounding neighborhoods was the highest design priority. The bridge was also identified in the Stapleton Bridge Master Plan as one of several “Primary” bridges that deserved special aesthetic treatment. Creating two bridges with space between each and utilizing a gently-arching girder profile allowed the park to “flow” beneath. Facing the abutments with natural stone and topping them with stone art pieces also tied the bridge to its surroundings. Custom railings were designed and dramatic night lighting completed the design.

This project was completed by Doug Lamson while employed by another firm.
