Abbott Drive Bridge

Omaha, Nebraska

A new bridge was needed to cross the Union Pacific’s railroad tracks on Omaha’s relocated gateway boulevard. Working for the City of Omaha, and in coordination with the bridge design engineers, Mr. Lamson designed the bridge aesthetics to fit into the Abbott Drive streetscape that he had recently completed. Aesthetic design services included selection of pier shapes, girder colors, abutment wall materials, parapet forms and finishes, transparent fencing, guardrails along the multi-use trail, median paving, and continuation of the “String of Pearls” lights. The overall effect is a seamless continuation of the three-mile boulevard that connects Omaha’s downtown with Eppley Airfield.

This project was completed by Doug Lamson while employed by another firm.
