The owners of this 1960s remodel expressed their love for Boulder’s natural setting and requested that it be reflected in the design of their new front garden. Chroma Design’s response was to use granite boulders to anchor and define the entry zone. Sandstone slab steps were fitted into the boulders and terraced walls were added to modulate the slope and organize the spaces. The Blue Gramma grass “meadow” and colorful, texture-rich, native planting beds complete the effect. We have suggested that the residence be painted a dark earth tone to better unify the structure with the landscape.
