The village of Catskill possesses a host of enviable physical and cultural assets that make it a terrific place to live and position it on the region’s leading edge for downtown economic growth and tourist attraction. Situated on the picturesque Hudson River just 95 miles from New York City, the village has a rich history in the arts, manufacturing, and tourism. Its architectural assets are strong, access to waterfront and recreation abundant, and economic opportunity promising. Teamed with Elan Planning and Design, Chroma Design attended public workshops and prepared physical redevelopment plans and sketches for public parks and open space, downtown streets, and key private redevelopment properties. The team’s final report includes a marketing strategy, policy recommendations for encouraging mixed-use development in the downtown, and detailed analysis of redevelopment potential for several prime downtown sites.
