23rd Avenue and South 24th Streetscape

Council Bluffs, IA

The proposed reconfiguration of a significant intersection and the extension of an existing multi-use trail presented the opportunity for a civic streetscape enhancement near the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs. Land acquisition associated with the street realignment opened up site development spaces on all sides of the intersection. Chroma Design has designed colorful ornamental gardens in a circular shape to unify the intersection’s landscape. Three thematic stone veneer walls will provide focal elements to backup the key view from the south. Street tree plantings, color concrete splash strips, crusher fines paths and public benches are also planned to invite the public to enjoy the new street edges and gardens.
