Chroma Design is responsible for the beautification of a 5-mile long state highway corridor in Council Bluffs. The planting design addresses the urban and rural sections of the roadway separately providing each with distinctive patterns and colors intended to visually tie the planted roadway edges with the center median. Medians are paved with Terracotta Red concrete that is scored and textured to add visual interest. Half-scale City Gateway Monuments will be located at key roadway intersections; they have been completely redesigned at half size for this project and utilize steel tower construction and full-spectrum-color LED light windows. Signature, stonewall “Bridges” are located at waterway crossings along the adjacent bicycle trail. Construction will be complete in the fall of 2009.
